Nuremberg Trials Collection:
Preserving the Past to Inform the Present

(The Dawson Rare Book Room, Cornell Law Library, 10:30-11:00am, Friday, June 5, 2009)

Join Claire Germain, Edward Cornell Law Librarian and Professor of Law, in the Rare Book Room to discover the Donovan Nuremberg Trial Collection. Learn about "Wild" Bill Donovan, the chief aide to Justice Jackson during the Nuremberg trials. "Wild" Bill led an adventurous life that included his involvement in the OSS (the WWII intelligence organization) and the establishment of the CIA. Highlights of this Special Collection include Donovan's annotated transcripts of the war crimes trials and a fascinating psychological profile of Hitler.

During this time, Alumni will also be able to view an exhibit commemorating the centennial of the birth of Professor Rudolf Schlesinger, Grandfather of Comparative Law.

The Donovan Nuremberg collection was donated to Cornell Law Library in 1998 by Henry Korn, B.A. 1968, and his wife, Ellen Schaum Korn, B.S. 1968. It is with deep appreciation that the Cornell Law Library recognizes the Korns for their longstanding friendship with Cornell Law School.

The ongoing and extensive digitization of the Donovan Collection is made possible through the kind generosity of the Nathaniel Lapkin Foundation. The new electronic format is highly valued among researchers; it generated nearly 10,000 hits on the Cornell Library website in its first year.

The Dawson Rare Book Room will also be open from 11:00am to 12:30pm.
