LEGAL RESEARCH 2.0: BEYOND LAW SCHOOL
(Click here for Spring, 2009 schedule)

What's your edge? Before you know it, exams will be over and you'll be hard at work meeting the demands of your new employment. To help you meet the expectations of today's practice environments, the Law library offers its annual program, Legal Research 2.0: Beyond Law School. The program features three major components:

  • Research Consultations
  • Throughout the year, Research Attorneys provide customized sessions with individual students to prepare for their summer jobs, clerkships, public interest work, and post-graduate positions. These consultations become even more valuable as you prepare for summer employment. Tailored advice includes, but is not limited to, specific jurisdictional sources, key resources in substantive practice areas, and advanced research skills and strategies. Consultations can last from 30 minutes to 60 minutes. Our registration form allows you to specify your interests and needs, and requests a particular Research Attorney if desired. Forms are available at the Circulation Desk in the Reading Room and online.

  • Into the Real World workshop
  • Every year, these sessions are based on a different themes designed to provide students with the most current information possible about the climate and expectations surrounding legal research in the practice climate, and about the newest and best resources and strategies. Watch the spring newsletter for details and schedule.

  • Lexis and Westlaw "Prepare to Practice" sessions
  • Each year the Law Library invites Lexis and Westlaw to provide on site training sessions to prepare students for summer employment. Watch the spring newsletter for schedule.
