Claire Germain received a Licence-es-Lettres (German), cum laude, University of Paris III, 1971; Licence-en-Droit (LL.B.), University of Paris XII, 1974; M.C.L., Louisiana State University School of Law, 1975; and M.L.L., University of Denver, 1977. She joined the Cornell Law School faculty in 1993, after years of service at Duke Law School as a law librarian and senior lecturer. She teaches a seminar in French Law in Ithaca and in the Cornell Paris program. She is interested in all aspects of legal information, from rare books to digital information. She has authored many publications, including the award-winning Germain's Transnational Law Research. She frequently speaks on comparative law and legal research topics in the USA, Canada, Europe, and most recently Brazil. She has served as Chair of the American Association of Law Schools Committee on Libraries and Technology, as President of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), and as the Chair of the AALS section on Law Libraries. She is currently the immediate past President of the American Association of Law Libraries.
