The mission of the Cornell Law Library is to advance legal research, scholarship, and education by providing outstanding and innovative information services and resources in the most efficient manner to the Law School, the University, and the transnational research community.

In partnership with Cornell Law School, a preeminent institution for legal education and scholarship, and Cornell University Library, a world-class research library, the Law Library enriches the school's programs and curriculum by providing exceptional resources and services to its constituents. The Law Library is instrumental in attracting and retaining faculty, visiting scholars, and students, and in providing leadership for other institutions and organizations. In realizing this vision, the Law Library will focus on the following:

  • Enhancing the status of Cornell Law Library as a top research center, especially in the areas of transnational law and multidisciplinary studies.
  • Supporting Law School programs, law alumni, and the legal profession by combining staff expertise and services with worldwide electronic information access and outstanding print collections.
  • Building upon existing relationships with national and international organizations, as well as establishing new relationships, to enhance the global reputation of Cornell Law School and the Law Library.
  • Shaping the future direction of the legal information profession through relationships with key decision-makers.
