Spotlight on Environmental Law

Earth Day FlagWhile the US celebrates Earth Day on April 22, the United Nations marks the occasion on the spring equinox in March.  In the hopes of an early spring, this month we’re highlighting environmental law resources available online from Cornell Law Library.  BNA offers a number of titles relating to environmental law, such as BioTech Watch, Daily Environment Report, HazMat Transportation News, International Environment Reporter, and State Environment Daily, to name just a few.  These publications provide reporting and analysis of legislative and judicial news. All publications are searchable and members of the Cornell law community can sign up for email updates.  Environmental Law Reporter Online provides case law, statutes, articles, analysis and commentary, and email updates on all matters environmental.  Please note: both resources can be accessed from any law school computer.  Questions?  Contact the Law Library.

Digitization Update: Nuremberg Trials Materials

Nuremberg TrialCornell Law Library continues to make its rich resources accessible to the world. Since acquiring the Donovan Nuremberg Trials collection in 1999, there has been a constant demand for documents from the collection. In response, over the past three months the Law Library has been digitizing documents from the Nuremberg collection with funding from the Lapkin Foundation. The Index to the collection, along with pdfs of the documents digitized thus far, is available at the Donovan Nuremberg Trials Collection Finding Aids.

Cornell Law Students: Please Help Us!

No FoodAlthough it may be difficult to believe, the Law Library does not permit food or uncovered drinks anywhere within its confines, including the Reading Room and the stacks. This rule is often overlooked by busy students who prefer to multitask by eating and studying at the same time. Please satisfy your hunger outside the library, perhaps in the Atrium or perhaps even outside the confines of the law school. A break will do wonders for your mind and stamina and will protect your Law Library’s books, tables, computers, and carrels from tomato sauce, crumbs, melted cheese, cola, green tea, cereal, subs, potato chips, candy and all the other foodstuffs favored by students. Eating food elsewhere will also help solve up the problem and influence others to do the same. Properly handled, peer pressure can be very useful. Thank you for respecting the library’s resources.

Important Announcement: Countdown to Legal Research 2.0 Begins

Even though it is snowing, it is time to think about summer employment and research skills you want to bring to your job. So please keep alert for news about the Law Library’s annual prepare-to-practice week which begins March 31. Announcements about events and prizes will be posted online, in Scoops, and on posters around the library later this month.
