The Law Library has a wide array of study areas to meet the varying needs of our students. Most are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, some carrels are available for reserve by law students doing extended research.

GOULD READING ROOM

The Reading Room, the hub of the Library, is a popular study area for students. Wireless Internet service is available throughout. The Circulation and Research Desks are also located here.

CARRELS

Sixty seven carrels on the ground level plus twenty in the basement of the Law Library can be reserved by law students doing extended research and who need to keep library materials together. Application forms are available online and at the Circulation Desk. Carrel reservations are made for one semester periods.

All other carrels are available on a first-come, first-served basis on floors 4, 2, and 1. They may not be reserved and are cleared each morning. Library materials are reshelved, and personal items are placed in Lost & Found at the Circulation Desk. Wireless access is available throughout the library.

The fourth floor is a designated laptop-free zone for students needing maximum quiet (iPads, iPhones and other devices without keyboards are welcome).

CASUAL READING ROOM

Popular magazines, newspapers, and daily legal journals are located in the Casual Reading Room at the east end of the Reading Room upstairs above the Rare Book Room. This is an excellent room for group study and nice views.

STUDY ROOMS

Rooms G80, G81, 273, 387, 389, and the Casual Reading Room may be used for group study. While classes are in session, these rooms are available by reservation. During finals and study periods, the rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please refer to the Study Room Policy. Library materials left in the rooms overnight are reshelved, and personal items are placed in Lost & Found at the Circulation Desk.
